Allan H. Posted January 22, 2014 Share #3 Posted January 22, 2014 I don't think Dominique has any doubt as to the authenticity of the wing, so I'm not sure why it would need to be moved to the pinned thread? I think that you've got it right Dominique, I believe this wing to indeed be an Amcraft wing. You already know it is 100% original! Allan
Kilroy56 Posted January 22, 2014 Author Share #4 Posted January 22, 2014 You are correct Allan. I think it's legit but this set appears made of lighter base metal with a pale silver frosting . On the reverse the sterling mark has been obliterated. A variant, I presume. Dominique
awmartin Posted January 23, 2014 Share #5 Posted January 23, 2014 I always thought of these Amcraft wings with the washed out hallmark to be late to post war made wings. I don't know if this is correct, although these wings may not be sterling and that's why the sterling mark was intentionally blotched out (although it could have happened over time from use). Most of the Amcraft wings that I've seen with this blurry hallmark have clutch posts, so seeing a pinback isn't what I am used to, although the catch does look to be more modern (ie. doesn't have the typical rolling catch that 1940s era Amcraft pins have). Having said this, it is still a nice Amcraft wing.
