lamarhooten Posted January 17, 2014 Share #1 Posted January 17, 2014 Found this and afew other German goodies in a great-uncles closet recently. Knew he was in the war but no one, including him, ever talked of it. Any idea what unit/rank/specialty this hat goes to? Maybe a ballpark value too. Might be giving this to a local museum and they will want a value for tax reasons. Never have delt with any German stuff. Quicker to post here than to try and look it up. Thanks for any/all help! History Man Posted January 17, 2014 Share #2 Posted January 17, 2014 Looks like a very nice NCO Luftwaffe Signals visor cap. Philip
RDUNE Posted January 17, 2014 Share #3 Posted January 17, 2014 Nice looking visor Personally, I wouldn't give it to a museum. Chances are that they will never display it, and may or may not store it properly. At least that's been my experience with museums.
manayunkman Posted January 17, 2014 Share #4 Posted January 17, 2014 Very small size German Air Force enlisted man's NCO's visor for signal troops. This is the government issue hat that has suffered from being squashed. 400.
Mr.Jerry Posted January 17, 2014 Share #5 Posted January 17, 2014 yep, I echo what was said. Museums (generally) are the worst places you can give things. One museum here has 85 german gas masks. how many on display? zero. $400 is right on the numbers.
Timberwolf Posted January 17, 2014 Share #6 Posted January 17, 2014 Great signals visor! Although like the others have said why donate it? It's something your uncle brought back and imo would be a part of your family history!
Jack's Son Posted January 17, 2014 Share #7 Posted January 17, 2014 Very nice visor.
manayunkman Posted January 17, 2014 Share #8 Posted January 17, 2014 You might want to check under the leather sweat band as sometimes the unit is stamped there.
gunbarrel Posted January 18, 2014 Share #9 Posted January 18, 2014 If you don't want to sell them, trade them for something you collect of similar value.
