468abnarm Posted January 29, 2014 Share #9 Posted January 29, 2014 I wonder if these were not an early "proto" for desert boots?.
flashesandovals Posted January 29, 2014 Author Share #10 Posted January 29, 2014 Well, they have Gore-Tex lining and it looks like skis can be fitted too...
bheskett Posted January 29, 2014 Share #11 Posted January 29, 2014 I agree they look like a ski type boot. The squared off toe and the groove in the heal tell me it is for ski's. Any dates? Bob
Nkomo Posted January 30, 2014 Share #12 Posted January 30, 2014 These are an extremely rare pair of US Special Forces boots used for skiing and winter applications. I am wanting to even go as far as to call them experimental.
kammo-man Posted February 2, 2014 Share #13 Posted February 2, 2014 Rangers were issued these in the early 1980s Owen
MattD Posted February 2, 2014 Share #14 Posted February 2, 2014 These were the first pattern Gortex boots issued to Special Forces, 3 -325 (In Italy) and Rangers (first time I seen that reference via Owen) in the 1980s. They was also a style made with the waffle pattern standard issue boot sole and as I recall without the ski binding and square toes I had 2 pair dyed black in the old BDU Army days and they were one of my favorite pairs of boots. I still have a pair
