KASTAUFFER Posted January 12, 2014 Share #4 Posted January 12, 2014 Looks like a Navy patch to me too. During WWII quite a few USN squadron patches were decals, stenciled, or painted on USN Canvas material. Kurt

Johnny Signor Posted January 14, 2014 Share #11 Posted January 14, 2014 You probably already know but "VB" was "Bombing Sqd" ,VBF was Bombing Fighting Sqd" (Sometimes reversed Fighting Bombing Sqd) Usually the bombing Sqd had TBM and or SBD sometimes the Helldiver too, the VBF's had a mixture of F4F/F6F and then sometimes TBM/SBD's too
manayunkman Posted January 14, 2014 Share #12 Posted January 14, 2014 I am assuming that all the officers in the photo are pilots. Interesting to note is that not all of them are wearing wings. Does anyone know who the man is with the bandaged head ? That's a cool photograph.
