Brig Posted January 10, 2014 Share #2 Posted January 10, 2014 -marpat therma rest- 2 man combat tent -Marpat radio pouch These are not standard CIF issue items to Marines, but either issued through battalion CTEP prior to deployment, by company for field ops, or come SL3 with radios. The MarPat Therma Rest is a CTEP item...standard issue is the basic foam ISOMAT. Many units no longer issue tents unless inclimate weather is expected. We rarely used them in the victor units I have been in, as the tarp and some 550 cord makes a quick shelter that is easier to transport and quicker to tear down. The radio pouch is SL3 to the radio...and often not even used, instead many Marines place the radio into an empty magazine pouch. The sleeping system is also no longer a 3 bag system, it is a 2 bag system with a compression sack and mesh net. The Assault Pack comes with the main pack, so anyone who draws one also draws the other. CIF does not issue different gear to recon vs the rest of the Marine Corps...they provide a basic issue that is the same to all Marines, and units issue any specialized gear the Marine may need in that unit. They are constantly altering the basic issue, but it generally contains: -Sleeping system (main bag, bivy sack/bug net, compression sack, mesh bag) -Tarp -Poncho Liner digital woodland -Gortex Top/Bottoms digital woodland -Field Jacket top digital tan (more of gortex than a field jacket) -Grid fleece top/bottom -Polypro top/bottom (2 pairs) -Fleece watch cap -Neck gaiter -OE or wool glove inserts -Leather glove shells -Kevlar helmet -Reversible digital helmet cover -Eye protection w/ tinted & clear lenses -ESS goggles -FLAK jacket/plate carrier with kevlar inserts -SAPI plates (2 large, 2 small side) -2 canteens -2 canteen pouches -2 grenade pouches -3 magazine pouches -1 dump pouch -1 IFAK w/ medical kit & 2 tourniquets -Camel back hydration system w/ bladder -Coyote tan Pack system (main pack, assault pack, 2 hydration pouches, 2 sustenance pouches) -Water purification attachment for camel back bladder -Sidewinder 4 color, 4 setting flashlight -Canteen cup -ISOMAT -4 small compression sacks -2 large compression sacks Additionally, NBC provides your gasmask issue and the battalion armory provides your basic weapon SL3 issue which varies depending on your T/O weapon system Depending on your command, you may or may not be authorized to wear private purchase and approved additional gear such as flare pouches, radio pouches, GP pouches, drop paddles, gloves, eye pro, etc, etc Nothing described in the list above is classified/sensitive information that is not readily available in countless photos of Marines in training and combat. Thump Posted January 11, 2014 Share #3 Posted January 11, 2014 The radio pouch may be a reference to the one that comes with the current Arc'teryx ILBE pack that is being phased out, the one with the woodland pattern (being changed out for the new Eagle Coyote Brown ones). If I remember correctly, they come with a pouch on the inside of the main compartment for carrying a PRC.
