All,

Looking for additional information on this Soldier. The NARA site lists him as a POW on 12/26/44 which is the same day his is listed as the date of death. Also, the NARA it shows his status as executed/died trying to escape. Another website lists him as Died of Wounds so wondering which is correct or if anyone has any additional information concerning how this brave soldier lost his life. He was part of the 2nd Armored Division/ 41st Armored Infantry I believe.Thank you.

Just got the group in the mail. He was in the 9th Armored Division/ 60th infantry when he was died. Still wondering if there is a way to determine if he Died of Wounds from injuries in a hospital or was captured and killed based on the NARA POW website. Thanks in advance.

You need to order the IDPF - Individual Deceased Personnel File. This should give you all the details available. Looks like he was a Battle of the Bulge casualty. Perhaps captured and then killed trying to escape. Write to: DEPARTMENT OF THE ARMY

U.S. ARMY HUMAN RESOURCES COMMAND

1600 SPEARHEAD DIVISION AVENUE

FORT KNOX, KY 40122

Give ALL details. Takes up to 6 months. No Charge usually. Good Luck
