WWII_GI Posted January 4, 2014 Share #1 Posted January 4, 2014 I picked up this helmet shell recently and I knew it was a 1950's era experimental radio helmet and was replaced with the AN/PRC-34 (X1) radio liner. I have not been able to find any other info on these helmets like the years they were tested and how many were produced. Does anyone have any info on these helmets? This helmet is pretty rough it is a WWII swivel bail with t least 5 coats of paint on it. The sticker reads NC DCIS PROPERTY USACDEC SN0080008 It also has 23 stenciled on the back. I added a liner and some beater straps and clamps for display. Thanks -Steven

patches Posted January 5, 2014 Share #6 Posted January 5, 2014 I posted this awhile back, a lot of ideas floating around with como back then, with the helmets you and GC posted, it looks like the anntena would be sticking straight up in the air from the top of the head. http://www.usmilitariaforum.com/forums/index.php?/topic/187075-late-1950s-very-early-1960s-experimental-solar-powered-signal-corps-helmet/?hl=colby
