Over the years I've seen a few WWI Collar Discs that had cloth backing in the branch color. Here's one I have. A German made Medical disc with white and maroon backing.

The other one I have is an Artillery disc with red felt backing. Has a maker mark on the back. I think it is CIAMORA. Does anyone know who this is? An American maker or possibly European.

Should has said Coast Artillery, not Artillery. It appears to me that these were worn on the overseas cap in the Army of Occupation. I know the MPs wore colored backing on their standing collar but I don't think these were used that way.

It was the practice in the Army of Occupation for enlisted ment to wear branch colored backings behind the disks on the collars of the uniform, the overseas cap and behind the universal coat of arms badge on the service cap ("bus driver's cap" or "visor cap" to some).

I suspect the hallmark is for Crispulo Zamora. Zamora was an insignia maker in Manilla, PI. I have a 4th Composite Group DI with a similar hallmark. (CZAMORA)
