Iron On excitement

Isn't it amazing what we get excited about? While I preferred these to the stenciled type, never really liked them. They never really stayed on, so you you needed to sew them down any way. My dad had some, but don't remember him ever wearing them. The couple of dungarees shirts he had when he retired did not have anything on them but his name. But, I do remember seeing these with the same packaging laying around the house and in his stuff when he retired.

Sigs,

The picture does not show the blue print the patch looks like the later black ones. What year do you remember the wax envelopes?

Here is a crow that belonged to my father. it still has the wax sleeve. it is blue print. I never saw my father ever use these. he had them, but don't remember him using them. He had two shirts when he retired and they did not have crows.

This is one of mine that I found in with my stuff. I made CPO in '85, so this is the fat parrott style. Never noticed it

This is one of my old dungaree shirts. It is from the late '70s, or 1980-81. My daughter saved it and wears it around the house

Nice crows,

I fished these iron on crows out of a seabag that I left at my folks house in 1979 when I transferred from the Pacific to the Atlantic.

They were with my sewing kit and scraps that I kept for upgrading uniforms.

Iron on crow like Steve's and his dad's, in this case for a 3rd Class Petty Officer

Like many other crows, we would buy them as E-6 rank and trim them to what we wanted

This is the reverse, the business side with the adhesive

Like Steve, I preferred the stencil type rather than the denim or chambray material

These could be trimmed to add on additional chevron to your dungarees

I did exactly that with this crow, trimming away a chevron to increase my rank from E-4 to E-5.

...and the reverse sides

I probably bought these at the exchange or uniform shop either at Yokosuka or Pearl Harbor in the mid-1970's

I remember about '72 there were color iron on transfers for the dungaree jacket and the "New" pull over Utility Jumper that was supposed to replace the dungarees. The eagle was white and the chevrons were red. Only saw a couple ever used, and none after like '73. Never noticed them in the exchange, but I was a non rate, so not really looking.

Found thesed in my bag of stuff from when I was SM1 Iron on Enlisted Surface Warfare Specialists badges. Same as iron on crows. There are still two left in the pack. Don't remember how many came in the pack. Note, they were 65 cents for the pack.
