sigsaye Posted January 2, 2014 Share #2 Posted January 2, 2014 Isn't it amazing what we get excited about? While I preferred these to the stenciled type, never really liked them. They never really stayed on, so you you needed to sew them down any way. My dad had some, but don't remember him ever wearing them. The couple of dungarees shirts he had when he retired did not have anything on them but his name. But, I do remember seeing these with the same packaging laying around the house and in his stuff when he retired.
topdcnut Posted January 2, 2014 Author Share #3 Posted January 2, 2014 Sigs, The picture does not show the blue print the patch looks like the later black ones. What year do you remember the wax envelopes?

Salvage Sailor Posted January 5, 2014 Share #12 Posted January 5, 2014 Nice crows, I fished these iron on crows out of a seabag that I left at my folks house in 1979 when I transferred from the Pacific to the Atlantic. They were with my sewing kit and scraps that I kept for upgrading uniforms.

Salvage Sailor Posted January 5, 2014 Share #14 Posted January 5, 2014 Like many other crows, we would buy them as E-6 rank and trim them to what we wanted This is the reverse, the business side with the adhesive
Salvage Sailor Posted January 5, 2014 Share #15 Posted January 5, 2014 Like Steve, I preferred the stencil type rather than the denim or chambray material
Salvage Sailor Posted January 5, 2014 Share #16 Posted January 5, 2014 These could be trimmed to add on additional chevron to your dungarees I did exactly that with this crow, trimming away a chevron to increase my rank from E-4 to E-5.

sigsaye Posted January 5, 2014 Share #20 Posted January 5, 2014 I remember about '72 there were color iron on transfers for the dungaree jacket and the "New" pull over Utility Jumper that was supposed to replace the dungarees. The eagle was white and the chevrons were red. Only saw a couple ever used, and none after like '73. Never noticed them in the exchange, but I was a non rate, so not really looking.
