joefriday22 Posted January 1, 2014 Share #1 Posted January 1, 2014 Hello, I posted pictures of some of this group some time ago. At that time non US related items were not permitted to be shown on the forum so I was not able to post pictures of these items. Read here for the rest of the story and other items in this group. http://www.usmilitariaforum.com/forums/index.php?/topic/111290-ww2-americal-division-ph/ Japanese sword complete with "surrender" tag. This tag has been translated for me and containes the former owners name and address.

pathfinder505 Posted January 1, 2014 Share #5 Posted January 1, 2014 Just a great group. I like the paperwork, sword, flags, just all of it.
USCapturephotos Posted January 1, 2014 Share #6 Posted January 1, 2014 I read your other post about how you acquired this grouping. I love it. That is great that you were able to speak to the vet's son about his father. I don't know as much about Japanese relics but read somewhere that the Japanese soldiers would place their name and address with the sword in the belief that it would be returned to the family someday...just like the tag that your has. Can anyone else verify this story? Paul

vintageproductions Posted January 2, 2014 Share #10 Posted January 2, 2014 In your photos, both Japanese flags are upside down. They need to be flipped, and then reversed so the ties are on the right side. Maybe then someone can give you a partial translation.
