Survival Posted December 30, 2013 Share #1 Posted December 30, 2013 These boots came with a few WW2 era military items from a local estate. They look period but much to lightly constructed to be military. Wanted to confirm if they are military or not. Maybe scouts, forestry, or just old hiking boots? hawkdriver Posted December 30, 2013 Share #4 Posted December 30, 2013 Look to be French double buckle boots.
Corpl. Cleaver Posted December 30, 2013 Share #5 Posted December 30, 2013 They don't look to be the French ones. Construction, soles, color, hardware, leather quality etc... Are different than any other French boot i have seen
doyler Posted December 31, 2013 Share #6 Posted December 31, 2013 Any markings on the interior of the tops?? Typically the issue boots have a cloth and leather lined buckle top.The canvas cloth is either olive drab or white
Survival Posted December 31, 2013 Author Share #7 Posted December 31, 2013 Thanks everyone. Only markings are the number stamped inside as stated in the third post. Soles and heels are stamped Armourtred and Armourcord. The soles look to be impregnated with a twine type material. The boots seem to be much lighter weight then the typical military double buckle boots but well made and vintage.
GIJive Posted December 31, 2013 Share #8 Posted December 31, 2013 If the cuff is rough out leather, they are 1960's era reproductions. I had a friend that had an identical pair. The manufacturer may have used surplus soles an heels, similar to the type used on Post-WWII USMC boondockers. Some of the actors on the TV show Combat, wore them in the later seasons. GIJive Posted January 3, 2014 Share #10 Posted January 3, 2014 That's exactly right. If you pay attention to the 5th Season color episodes, you will see that he is wearing the identical boot, right down to the little rivet on the cuff, just above the top shoelace hole. Nice find! Have never been able to locate a pair of those.
