Department of the Navy - Direct - Protect

Naval Control of Shipping Organization

 

A wartime concept for maritime control of convoys and sealanes established by DOD and NATO (note the NATO star) and operated by the Navy.

It's new fancier name is Naval Cooperation and Guidance for Shipping (NCAGS)

Atlantic Fleet - ASW Hunter Killer Force

The bottom two (Cruiser/Destroyer) are Hilborn-Hamburgers

The top left is Gemsco and the Bullion is Italian made

Note on the above that the ASW & Hunter Killer combine elements of the Naval Air, Surface and sub-Surface crests.

During the Cold War there were Naval bases situated up and down the eastern seaboard: Boston, Newport, New Haven, NYC, Norfolk, Charleston, Mayport, etc.

These were primarily Cruiser and Destroyer commands belonging to the Atlantic Fleet

In-chopping and out-chopping ships and submarines to the Atlantic and Pacific Fleets

 

In the Pacific they reported to the Commander in Chief Pacific Fleet at Makalapa, Pearl Harbor
