for those of you trying to figure which boat he served on, here ya go.....

 

USS STINGRAY (SS-186), one of the six Salmon Class pre-war submarines built in the 1930's

 

Stingray (SS-186) received twelve battle stars for World War II service. She holds the record for most war patrols—16—of any American submarine

He was recalled for Submarine service during the Korean War on the USS SEA DEVIL (SS-400)

After a short posting aboard the USS FLORIKAN (ASR-9) at Pearl Harbor, he was transferred to the USS TILEFISH (SS-307)

Backing up, forgot one.....

 

WWII war time crew USS STINGRAY (SS-186) back at New London, CT just prior to decommissioning

 

They all had survived the war and were ready for peacetime

Full Lieutenant, wearing his dolphins as he was not serving in a Diving billet at this time

 

His Dolphins and Patrol Badge went for big bucks. The hat is shown early in this topic & I also have his boards and insignia

Those combat patrol cards are awesome.I like the one that has the number of stars awarded.I have an original plaque for the USS Sea Devil.

Do you have a photo of the USS SEA DEVIL Plaque?

 

I will try to get one.Its buried in a box somewhere.It's metal, not plaster, and looks like the image below.I got it in the late 70's.
