Modern (and faded) Russian Soviet Federative Socialist Republic banner..I think I got the spelling correct.1954 to 1991, Anyhow, ask yourself how/ why/and when could a Viet vet get one of these as a bringback?, as this is not a USSR natinal flag. If he served in Europe, either stationed in or visiting Berlin, he might have picked it up as a souvenir. (Austria during the Occupation is another possibility.) In Berlin, US troops had access to the East and even to the Soviet commissaries. As far as being a Vietnam bringback, that is less likely, but not impossible. The Communists would have rallies where they would display flags of allied nations. A photo exists of North Vietnamese troops carrying a Cuban flag during such an event. I can say when I came back from Russia in the early 90s, I brought back souvenirs for most of my relatives. A the time, this stuff was dime-a-dozen, so maybe someone gave it to him in the early 90s....unless there's some sort of provenance other than someone just saying "yeah, it came from a vets house therefore it's a vet bring back" the story doesn't hold much water...
