Brig Posted December 20, 2013 Share #1 Posted December 20, 2013 This really interesting sharpshooter badge sold a couple months ago in a hodge-podge...I worked too late to bid. The center was filed down and either this building was attached to the center or engraved in, hard to tell in the image. Can anyone ID the building? USMCR79 Posted December 20, 2013 Share #2 Posted December 20, 2013 Looks like a National Guard Armory (or a Jail) Bill

TRR Posted December 20, 2013 Share #4 Posted December 20, 2013 Whatever it is, that is some pretty nice craftsman ship or artistry. Those badges are pretty small to have engraved the center like that.
Brig Posted December 20, 2013 Author Share #5 Posted December 20, 2013 Looks like a National Guard Armory (or a Jail) Bill Jail kind of struck me, as well, which I thought peculiar Armory could be it. Strange thing to put on a badge.
firefighter Posted December 20, 2013 Share #6 Posted December 20, 2013 I think the Army used that design for their marksman badges in the early 1900's.So it could be a NG unit badge?
Brig Posted December 20, 2013 Author Share #7 Posted December 20, 2013 The National Guard used gold for a period, but yes, I believe there was an overlap where the Army & NG used USMC styles, much like there was a period between wars when the USMC used Army style
JBFloyd Posted December 20, 2013 Share #8 Posted December 20, 2013 Around 1910, the Illinois National Guard had at least one "Armory Marksman" badge with a similar design.
