Are these Naval Aviator Bullion wings ww2 era? Any idea on value? If not ww2,

any idea on age?

The patch measures 3" x 1 1/4"

Great idea for a thread and very timely!

I took a chance on this last night. I could only view them on my iphone, but the cost was very low, so I took a shot. I tried to search photos of repros, but didn't find any in this pattern. The seller was not a militaria dealer, mostly flea market and estate sale items.

What does the forum think of these? There were a pair of Liaison pilot wings in the same pattern ("L" on observer wings), but I was outbid on those. I don't have this in-hand yet, but will post additional pictures when they arrive.

Thanks in advance!

These are the Liaison wings that I did not win, but I thought I would post them here for reference.

Very unusual...never seen its like before. Maybe a unique conversion of an Observer wing in the absence of a regular Glider wing? Observer wings were frequently the basis for a bunch of other wings too. On the other hand...the owner might have had Masonic connections?

I don't know... I just don't get a good feeling about those letter wings.

They appear thin and stamped.

although the details seem pretty decent.

Hopefully I will have them in-hand this weekend and will be able to feel the weight and see the detail.

I know I have seen this pattern before. Somewhere on USMF? I just can't remember where.

If they were real, they would be long gone at that price ! The buy it now price is, I feel, a steal for a real WASP wing !

Hi I am looking at these two sets of wings and sense there are so many fake sets out there. I am looking for opinions on these two. I know they are not very valuable compared to pilots ETC: I don't know if they are faking them or not??

Thanks in advance for looking!

Hi David,

I don't see any issues from the limited pics provided. I think I can just make out short posts on the first. Both are probably mid to late WW2 examples, possibly as late as early 50s examples.

Picked up this pair of clutch back pilot wings. Not a wing person per se so thought I'd post to get more experienced wing collector opinions. Marked Sterling but no other hallmarks. Thoughts and comments appreciated. Thanks.

Nice wing by D Smilo if I don't get myself wrong.

I might be buying this Sterling marked wings if they are WWII vintage.

Good Afternoon Gents,

I'm new to the group and to collecting wings. I was hoping you guys wouldn't mind telling me if these two wings I recently picked up are legit! I'm hoping they are both WW2 era. Let me know what you think. Thanks in advance.

V/R,

Dave

***I will have to create another post for the second gunner wings. I couldn't reduce the files to fit four pics on a single post***

Those are fine. Typically attributed to Levelle. Nice.

As promised the pictures of my second purchase are shown below. Does anyone have any info on the stamp "AMICO", as far as roughly the time they produced aerial gunner wings in this style, etc. Thanks so much!
