I came across this series of wartime shorts on You Tube they're entitled "The Army-Navy Screen Magazine". I've linked two for you to watch. Well worth the time!

 

The first one is about the Marshall Island campaign (shows 7th ID soldiers wearing those the recognition vests that have been discussed in other topics)
