RedLegGI Posted March 21, 2009 Share #127 Posted March 21, 2009 Hey Guys Great liners, All great posts.. My good friend just picked up a fixed bail helmet from his Fathers old friend. When he pulled the Westinghouse liner out this is what he found. Maybe I will do a separate post on this one. Beautiful Liner! I'd love to see a post/history on it. GITom1944 Posted April 22, 2009 Share #136 Posted April 22, 2009 Here's a liner from my collection, Any ideas about the possible unit would be appreciated. My guess is the red stripe means it is an artillery unit.

frederik.geudens Posted June 4, 2009 Share #145 Posted June 4, 2009 Today I bought an M1 helmet from which the 1953-dated liner has been repainted olive green. Whoever repainted it did not do a very good job since the green paint is chipping off all over the place. Underneath the green, the liner appears to be metallic blue with a wide gold striping along the brim. That paintjob, on the contrary, seems to have been done professionally. There are also faint marks of a 2" round device that at one time was attached to the front eyelet of the liner, presumably some sort of unit crest or badge. Does anybody have any idea what unit used this bright color scheme? I'll try to post a picture, althought the helmet still is mainly cover by the layer of olive green. I'm not sure if any of the underlaying colors will be clearly visible on photo. Regards, Frederik

11-Bull Posted June 7, 2009 Share #148 Posted June 7, 2009 In reply to earlier inquiry, the insignia on the sides is the Antilles Department. At least that is what it was called at the time when the helmet was in use.
