Korean War Westinghouse liner marked Micarta 1952 with an odd marking I’m trying to identify. Perhaps a military academy marking? There’s also two small holes drilled in the front near the eyelet.

This is for one of the many Basic Training and or Advanced Individual Training Brigades in the 1960s, a 2nd Brigade, the problem is we don't know what post, could be for a few, Gordon, Jackson, Benning, Dix etc etc. Those two holes were for a Metal Rank Pin, an Officer, since they are Up and Down, means either one of the Lieutenant's Bars or a Major or Lieutenant Colonel.

71st Antiaircraft Artillery Battalion, a 50s one, the unit crest decal has the symbolism of a unit of the Tennessee National Guard right, but point in fact when this liner was worn pre 1959, it was a Regular Army unit, here it took it's Coat of Arms and Unit crest from the old 1920s-30s 504th Coast Artillery Regiment, a Reserve unit from Tennessee, so when the Reserve 504th CA gets a Coat of Arms it chose the symbol of it home state of Tennessee. the 71st AA Bn gets a new Coat of Arms and Unit Crest in 1959.

A history of the 504th CA and the Wiki on whole unit.

The special Insignia of the 4th Infantry worn on the liners we see in Japan in late 1945, 4th Infantry was at this time  assigned to the 25th Infantry Division in Japan, the unit replaced the wartime assigned 161st Infantry, the 161st Infantry being originally of the Washington State National Guard of the 41st Division when it was made Separate and ultimately assigned as a third regiment for the 25th Infantry Division, who needed this third regiment cause they had to let go that Hawaiian NG regiment the 298th Infantry Regiment, and now the 161st was sent home.

A Blue painted helmet liner of the 60s and or 70s of the 97th ARCOM NCO Academy, here it seems to be a sticker rather than the standard, the decal.

Here’s mine, a nice 32nd Division post-WW2/KW Westinghouse liner.

Seller at a gun show informed me the red arrow was a French unit. Why argue, I paid the man and left with a smile!

🇺🇸 Corporal Jimmie C. Metcalf's liner.

Born in Georgia on April 13, 1921, he enlisted in the army on January 9, 1941.

Private, then Corporal Metcalf took part in all the division's campaigns with "A" Battery - 20th Field Artillery Battalion.

He landed on Utah Beach with the battalion on June 7, 1944, the only one of the 4th Infantry Division's four artillery units not to land on D-Day itself.

Corporal Metcalf lost his liner in Belgium, near Bütgenbach, not far from the Siegfried Line. The 4th Infantry Division was stationed there for several weeks in October 1944.

This liner is unique in that its stencil is painted in three different ways and colors.

Corporal Metcalf was tragically killed in a road accident in 1955, along with one of his sons.

here's my 44th Division CAPAC 51/52 . Does anyone know what the other red/yellow marking is? Also, wasn't the 44th deactivated after WW2? Why would their unit decal be on a later issue liner?
