Some nice snacks!

Thanks!   I love liners almost more than M1s.  One of these days I'll photograph the rest and get them shared.

HELLO ALL.   AWESOME LINERS ON THESE PAGES.  THOUGHT I CAN ADD ONE TO THE COLLECTION . THERE IS A TAG ATTACHED BY CLIP ON THE WEBBING THAT  HAS BEEN THERE FOREVER. I AM CURIOUS, THOUGH NOT ENOUGH TO UNFOLD IT.IMG_1819.JPG.401477c311eb5adccba72eb29ad2a297.JPGIMG_1820.JPG.36209fd08e17197a4899250d780fb1ac.JPGIMG_1821.JPG.c468f260490ef730e2ca85d5c9f828d8.JPGIMG_1822.JPG.16b086a8aaf40daecf503bba6da8f4b1.JPG

Insignia is unfortunately not the best condition but a very nicely painted Airmain First Class marked liner. Liner is a nice condition mid war CAPAC with a late war chinstrap I added. Came with a near mint mid war SB Schlueter. I believe this would be early Air Force

A couple of recent pick ups I thought I'd add to the thread

First is a mid war CAPAC with super early double wire sweatband (1st style spring clips). Sweatband is named to an Africans Americana soldier who enlisted in April of 1941. Sweatband also has another laundry number and a 3rd laundry number is scratched into the liner and stamped in the webbing. Liner was repainted white once or twice and a black triangle was painted on the front. Still searching for a possible meaning behind this, previous owner was told it may be MP related but I haven't seen anything to indicate that so far.

Funky looking liner marked HQ. The stripes seem like electrical tape and it seems like there was a stripe or two made from medical tape. the HQ is a decal of some sorts. Cherry on top is that it's a late war production Westinghouse airborne liner though unfortunately missing the A yolks. Came from a seller outside of Robins AFB who picked it up in an estate sale so may Airforce related or possibly saw use at Ft. Benning. PXL_20230411_003353733.jpg.e4719937117aadc0f687cacb5ea477be.jpgPXL_20230411_004457536.jpg.1337637de5b97755179e60a75766b1ef.jpgPXL_20230411_004600860.jpg.58840afe73201ebbcd8c73c8a9a6e099.jpg

Shared this in the MP liners thread but adding here for reference as well, post WWII USMC MP marked liner. When I originally bought it it had no EGA but had the ghosting of where one used to sit so I added one for display.

84th Training Division HQ 1960s.

Following the conclusion of World War II, the division was made part of the Army Reserve. In January 1946, it was redesignated the 84th Airborne Division and headquartered out of Wisconsin. In 1947, it was designated as the Army's Airborne Reserve Command. Five years later, in 1952, the division was reorganized again, this time as a training division composed of three regiments—the 274th, 334th, and 339th. Throughout the 1950s, the division would continue its conversion to a training formation, changing its subordinate unit makeup from regiments to brigades and support groups.

Hawley liner and helmet . . . . . .

I bought this Hawley liner and helmet from a friend in the 1970's it was the first Hawley liner I had seen and I had desperately been searching for one.  Sadly the majors leaf on the front, divisional markings either side and the rear stripe had all been sanded away. Fortunately as the Hawley liner is material covered then the majors insignia couldn't be sanded away on that.  I owned several other Hawleys over the years but this first one is my keeper.

Rolling forward to 2019 or around that time I watched some wartime footage of a mined Jeep in Coutances 1944, walking away from the scene of the explosion and towards the camera can be seen an American soldier wearing an almost identical Majors helmet and with the insignia sanded away.   It can also be seen to one side that the divisional markings on the side have also been sanded away.  I am not claiming this to be the same helmet that I have,  but its a spooky resemblance that they have both been sanded down in an identical way, maybe a field order to all officers.

From when the 6th Armored Division was a Training Division at Fort Leonard Wood Missouri, 52nd Armored Engineer Battalion, Since Wood was already established as a Engineer Replacement Training Center going back to WWII, this unit in this case may have given Advanced Individual Training for Engineer Trainees after their Basic, Basic not just at Wood but anywhere. The other Training Division's Engineer units generally were cadre strength Training Committee type units.

The 502nd is mine, it has been painted 3 times and was in plain green when I got it.

I suspected a marking under the paint & therefore , I stripped the upper lay of paint and discovered three 502nd hearts 2nd Bn  on different places.

Not necessary to say thay I paid the price of a  standard M1for it.

The 508th 2nd Bn is not mine as well as the 509th.

Jeff - This liner is super cool. Was the 126th anti aircraft battalion in the Mass National Guard? I notice the patch/decal has the arm of God on it which is a Mass thing.
