They were the ones who joined the Mickey Mouse Club sponsored by their local theater in the 1930s, (by the thousands with more members than the Boy and Girl Scouts combined), and then as young adults went to war. Walt Disney always had an affinity for them. They supported him when the mouse and his studio were in its infancy, and he supported them by designing over 1,200 combat insignia for free.
