I served in Gators on both coasts, Remember most of these ships. Good ships, Good days. I served in a Carrier and two Tin Cans. But, the Gators were my favorite. Loved them

What a fantastic assemblage of gator patches! My grandfather was a WWII gator sailor on the Attala APA-131.

Great group of patches guys.

Bearmon,

Good thing I didn't happen to collect these types of patches or we would have been knocking each other out on some of the auctions.

Here is one contribution of mine . USS Hunterdon Cty was LST-838 in early part of Vietnam war and then re-assigned as AGP-838 to support Hal-3 and others.

Very nice Mitch as you know I have real soft spot for the VN era patches....

Glad we don't butt heads on this type too!

Here are a few from my collection.

High Flight

Oh, I have slipped the surly bonds of earth

And danced the skies on laughter-silver wings;

Sunward I've climbed and joined the tumbling mirth

Of sun-split clouds - and done a hundred things

You have not dreamed of - wheeled and soared and swung

High in the sunlit silence. Hovering there

I've chased the shouting wind along and flung

My eager craft through footless halls of air.

Up, up the long delirious, burning blue

I've topped the wind-swept heights with easy grace,

where never lark, or even eagle flew;

and while, with silent, lifting mind I've trod

The high untrespassed sanctity of space,

Put out my hand, and touched the face of God.

John Gillespie Magee, Jr.

June 9, 1922 – December 11, 1941

Don't let the B@stards wear you down -"Vinegar" Joe Stillwell
