PittsburghMom Posted November 22, 2013 Share #1 Posted November 22, 2013 I just picked up this newspaper/bulletin and thought others might be interested in reading some of the quotes listed that are allegedly from misc soldiers/officers. There are 10 long pages of quotes from @ Sept, 1944 or likely, the few months prior. There are lots of raw comments, so if preferred, I can send quotes via PM. (Mods, please let me know if the first quote should be removed.) Sorry for any typos that may be there. There is a lot to type! Some of those quoted are: Captain Harold L. Brown - "Our outfit is beginning to look more like a German unit than American - we've captured so many vehicles and weapons that we have run out of O.D. paint to repaint them. I travel in a deluxe German trailer now which is quite an improvement - outfitted myself yesterday in a new furlined coat - thanks to Adolph. Would like to thank him personally with a pair of forceps in my hand. Enclosed you will find a copy of the German 'Stars and Stripes.' If you understand German, maybe you can find out what we're doing in the war. I got it along with a lot of other souvenirs one day when we mopped up a town over here. Your latest Red Triangle sure was appreciated." Our Coatesville dentist is sure in fast company! Corp. George C Mahers Corp. Ernest J. Devlin Corp. Ernie Irons, Jr Pvt Earl Foley S 1/c Russ E. Feel free to let me know if there is a specific name that interests you and I will post that particular quote, comment or information. _____________________________________________________________________________________________________________________
