dan_the_hun84 Posted November 17, 2013 Share #1 Posted November 17, 2013 This was brought back by my wife's Grandpa, S/SGT Harold Bosh who was with the 1180th QM Co, 327th Service Group, 9th AAF. Its a size 66 shell, the decal is the "stacked" type normally associated with KM decals. It also was painted outside and on the inside brim with a battleship grey paint, looks to be still field gray under the liner band and inside dome. The helmet suffered 70 years of Ohio attic storage but the oxidation is old and stable and the liner is still pliable.
USCapturephotos Posted November 17, 2013 Share #2 Posted November 17, 2013 Oh wow. Great find. Make a tag or something with your grandfather in law's information so the history will be kept with it. Thanks for sharing this! Paul
