RustyCanteen Posted November 12, 2013 Share #2 Posted November 12, 2013 It looks like the New York BB-34.
bakchos215 Posted November 12, 2013 Share #3 Posted November 12, 2013 It sure looks like a New York Class Battleship. Either the USS New York (BB 34) or the USS Texas (BB 35).
siege1863 Posted November 12, 2013 Share #4 Posted November 12, 2013 The plane on the catapult should have the ship's name on the side. Can you magnify the image and read it?
RustyCanteen Posted November 12, 2013 Share #5 Posted November 12, 2013 I'm fairly certain it is the New York, the Texas never had the AA platform in that configuration on the forward tripod mast.
Alec Posted November 12, 2013 Share #6 Posted November 12, 2013 Here is a picture of the BB New York in Jane's 1941. Looks like it is the same vessel.
RustyCanteen Posted November 12, 2013 Share #7 Posted November 12, 2013 Here is an excellent illustration of what I mean, the Texas had a gun tub mounted atop the foremast, whereas the New York had it mounted lower in a completely different configuration. Texas BB-35 on left, New York BB-34 on right, note the .50 caliber AA gun positions on the foremast.
