36-tex Posted November 10, 2013 Share #1 Posted November 10, 2013 Here is the hostess patch being worn. I can not tell if the one on the cap is full size or smaller. I have never seen one of these smaller than the shoulder size.

Salvage Sailor Posted May 13, 2021 Share #11 Posted May 13, 2021 Difficult to see due to the newsprint but Ella Logan in the top photograph is wearing this 'postwar' US Army Hostess patch on her left shoulder Also of note, the AFN Bremen Radio Announcers are wearing Correspondent patches. Salvage Sailor Posted May 13, 2021 Share #12 Posted May 13, 2021 From the same source Colored soldiers at the Schwanewede Service Club, Bremen Port Command (Note the COMZ Guard in the white helmet) Caption: Smiles a-plenty...and mirth abundant...and "coffee and"...at the Schwanewede Service Club Let's look a little closer at the African American Army Hostess in the Club, Bremen Enclave, 1946 Schwanewede, the focal point for colored troops in the Enclave, is an extremely remote, out-of-the-way place about five miles from Blumenthal. The abundance of clubs and recreational facilities in Bremen or even Bremerhaven naturally couldn't nearly be equalled here, but the Schwanewede Service Club has filled a big gap and become extremely popular. This Service Club boasts just about everything. There are several ping pong tables, a large library, lots of easy chairs, a piano, phonograph, a snack bar with hamburgers and sandwichs, (sic) a theater, and a portable boxing ring. Other activities include arts and crafts, quizzes, bingo, and many other favorite indoor sports.
patches Posted May 13, 2021 Share #13 Posted May 13, 2021 Ah so they did make it overseas, wondering if they were sent out after V-E. Day, and if in Japan or say a large island in the Pacific where significant military personnel were stationed, and or the Philippines, after V-J Day???
