Indian Fighting in Newsprint

On one of my collecting trips, I came across a stack of authentic newspapers for sale all of the same title from July to December of 1873. The guy who was selling them had 'em priced reasonably enough so I started going through them and tried to remember if any significant military events were happening on the frontier. I found a couple of interesting articles (and one VERY interesting article) and picked up the issue which I will present now.

For the average American back East, here is how the news of the fighting out west would have been presented. First up are pix of the front page and the first snippet.

And lastly a buried gem which, while not military-related, I thought might be of interest. (It certainly was to me because I think I know who the bandits are.)

The newsprint came out a bit smaller than I anticipated so here's the Indian fight snippet in larger size (I hope).

Did you get any contact information from the seller? I have three IW groupings that I would like to research.

No, unfortunately not.
