patchguy Posted November 8, 2013 Share #6 Posted November 8, 2013 Yuck... Piece of trash... What a sissy looking indian... so many things wrong...
doyler Posted November 8, 2013 Share #7 Posted November 8, 2013 Will add lack of detail to the Alamo behinde the Indian as well. You will have to remember there is still an active Scout Troop in Northern Iowa that was formed and led by a former Alamo Scout and they were wearing the patch at one time and still do as I recall. Many copies have been made. One of the Scout troop patches I have is a merowed edged patch.Wasnt made to decieve collectores.I also have an original from the veteran who formed the troop. Dave Posted November 8, 2013 Share #8 Posted November 8, 2013 Yep, that indian is hideous...it is far from what a real patch looks like. Jim Baker Posted November 8, 2013 Share #9 Posted November 8, 2013 Just a brief glance and it's easily recognizable as a VERY BAD repro. And I hate to even call it that. Collecting WWII Armor and Tank Destroyer Items

ocsfollowme Posted November 9, 2013 Share #21 Posted November 9, 2013 The patch sold on eBay about 2 weeks ago for $120 and then he tried to resell it for great amounts. I thought it was a 1960s piece made for reunion purposes. The mouth is aweful. Just aweful. The edges look weird on the backside. If you google alamo scouts the organization has about 6 different types shown. this one is not one of them. Today another person posted another post WW2 japanese made one claimed to have been sold by Bill Scott. With about 400 originals made these two are not one of them. And I'll probably never get to own one of them either. -Steve OEF 11-12 veteran Selling off my 15 year private collection specializing in Home Front, AAF Schools, Aircraft Manufacturers, PX patches at www.ocsfollowme.com http://www.usmilitariaforum.com/usmfribbons/donation2014.gifhttp://www.usmilitariaforum.com/usmfribbons/donation2015.gifhttp://www.usmilitariaforum.com/usmfribbons/donation2016.gifhttp://www.usmilitariaforum.com/usmfribbons/donation2018.gif
doyler Posted November 9, 2013 Share #22 Posted November 9, 2013 I agree. The one posted that states japanese made then adding Scottys name to it is an attemt to just legitimize his sale. This is just wrong in so many ways to claim or try to prove originality or provenance.I hope Scotty will weigh in on this. doyler Posted November 9, 2013 Share #23 Posted November 9, 2013 I have posted these before. Its the patch group from the Alamo Scout vet I knew.I guess you can say its a "named group" but in the end when its out of my collection how would the next person prove it??I got it first hand to the next caretaker its just a story. Bill Scott Posted November 9, 2013 Share #25 Posted November 9, 2013 If I did sell the Japanese made one it would have been stated that it was not an original WW2 piece in the auction.Over the years I have owned 25-30 Alamo Scout patches its one of my favorites.Scotty
