Shoulder pads... Original??!

Recommended Posts

I bought these things a few months ago. They look original to me, but the marking ""pad, arm, wool, paratrooper"

I dont trust the text "pad, arm, wool, paratrooper"...

My question: Are these original and are these (stupid) markings original?

Pads look from this distance to be original.......Stock American at Baisy-Thy near Waterloo ,Belgium have a bin load of these Luke.

At least they did a week before christmas...some of them still had the stapled QM label on them.

Regards

Lloyd

Hi Luke and everyone else, I have attached a photo with exactly the same stamping on it but on a totally different item, you can then see that this has been faked up ( that's with an A, not a U ) as well.

Whoever has the stamp is not bright enough to see that you can't stamp two different items with the same designation stamp. Perhaps he might start putting it on Jump boots and such as it has the word ' Paratroop' in it's title, and he would like people to know Jump boots are a paratroop item ??. Cheers ( Lewis ) think.gif

Hey Ken,

I had a pair with those markings also and while the pads are original the stamp is pure "fantasy".

Hi Bryan, I took another look at the shoulder pads you posted and then realised that the U.S. is faked as well, didn't think about that first time around, Cheers ( Lewis )

As far as I know the word "Paratrooper" is never used in official army nomenclature. Several years ago someone was doing a lot of this, mostly taking obscure British stuff and remarking it as American. There were some weird mosquito leggings and some other things, the old GI Journal had a couple of articles about it.

The US uses the word Parachutist's on equipment that is Jump rated ie: 8465-261-4995 Case, Parachutist's, Individual Weapons, M-1950 If you look through the NSN list for FSC 8415 & 8465 there are dozens of items listed Parachutist's specific never is the word Paratrooper used (Paratrooper is slang).

Whatever they are I wish we'd had them in the 60s..

Those harnesses really hurt sometimes and we would have to wear them for hours.
