Grant S. Posted November 13, 2013 Share #26 Posted November 13, 2013 These are almost identical to the ones in post #21. The color and the weave are slightly different from the Sgt above, but apparently still U.S. made.
Grant S. Posted November 13, 2013 Share #27 Posted November 13, 2013 I have some others but now that I can compare them to what has previously been posted I see that they all appear to be US woven (unfortunately the ancient computer I use at the museum does not play well with this website). Next time I shall look more closely for ones that appear out of the ordinary. It is good to see that most of the chevrons are WWII. When people donate stuff to museums you never know what you're getting!
Captainofthe7th Posted November 17, 2013 Author Share #28 Posted November 17, 2013 Hey Grant-- I agree that those are both U.S. made WWII era chevrons, not only due to the style, but also because both the 3 stripes Sgt and the Technician ranks were abolished in 1948. I think I have seen a few soldiers wearing 3 stripes Sgt chevrons after 1948, though. Thanks for posting. Rob
VMI88 Posted November 19, 2013 Share #29 Posted November 19, 2013 The weave of the chevrons in post #1 looks very similar to the US Army tape in this post: http://www.usmilitariaforum.com/forums/index.php?/topic/190489-og-107-shirt-with-early-vietnamese-made-name-us-army-tapes/ Are the stripes raised or is the entire patch the same thickness?
