My theory--Japanese made 1948-1951+ WWII style chevrons

These are almost identical to the ones in post #21. The color and the weave are slightly different from the Sgt above, but apparently still U.S. made.

I have some others but now that I can compare them to what has previously been posted I see that they all appear to be US woven (unfortunately the ancient computer I use at the museum does not play well with this website). Next time I shall look more closely for ones that appear out of the ordinary. It is good to see that most of the chevrons are WWII. When people donate stuff to museums you never know what you're getting!

Hey Grant--

 

I agree that those are both U.S. made WWII era chevrons, not only due to the style, but also because both the 3 stripes Sgt and the Technician ranks were abolished in 1948.

 

I think I have seen a few soldiers wearing 3 stripes Sgt chevrons after 1948, though.
