Fort Susquehanna Posted November 4, 2013 Share #1 Posted November 4, 2013 I found this in a USN Grouping. Does anybody have any ideas on what it is? BROBS Posted November 5, 2013 Share #4 Posted November 5, 2013 is it a capture/surrender tag for a sword?
Bob Hudson Posted November 5, 2013 Share #5 Posted November 5, 2013 is it a capture/surrender tag for a sword? That's what I was thinking. I have seen them in cloth and wood. Typically they had the name address of the person who surrendered the sword, expecting they'd get it back some day. In villages with nothing like street addresses, a map would be needed to show his home. However, there don't seem to be any holes in the wood to attach it to a weapon. BROBS Posted November 5, 2013 Share #6 Posted November 5, 2013 maybe the hole is drilled lengthwise through the piece? Anymore pics OP? -Brian
Fort Susquehanna Posted November 7, 2013 Author Share #7 Posted November 7, 2013 There are no holes. I wondered if the map was for a grave. Thanks for the ideas.
