The 25th Infantry Division in Vietnam

Mitch: Re the 2-506 Recon pocket patch shoqwn at lower right in your posted picture: I designed it, around Christmas of 1970. More accurately, I re-drew it from a crude scribble the LT OIC gave me. I suggested that the colors be red-white-and BLUE (vice black) to carry on the colors of the 506th jump wings oval. But the LT stated they were not on jump status and none of his guys would appreciate it -- so it stayed black.

Some were sewn on the tops of boonies hats, some were enclosed in plastic pocket hangers; they were NOT (to my knowledge) worn sewn to the jacket, as the 101st chain of command disliked "renegade" patches and preferred to see the Screaming Eagle ONLY and EVERYWHERE. IIRC 50 were made on the first order, through a patch shop in Phu Bai.

13 March 1968, Cu Chi, South Vietnam --- Refreshment : A tank isn't the most pleasant place to be so a little refreshment is always welcome. This GI tries a slice of watermelon, bought from a young vendor at Cu Chi, about 25 miles northwest of Saigon. --- Image by © Bettmann/CORBIS

American Graffiti

Not sure if this is relevant here. But it's a nice Vietnam era cotton t-shirt crudely printed with 'Wolfhounds'

Anyway, would like to contribute in some way to this great thread.
