I would like to start here a topic on the Tropic Lightning Div. in Vietnam.

From uniforms, headgear to books, pictures and wartime publications, please show your related items.

I will begin with a PX purchase OG-107 shirt that belonged to Captain Robert D. Duckworth, BSMV, HHC/1/27th Inf, Wolfhounds.

First Lieutenant James A. Hill, HHC/25th Avn Battalion, OG-107 shirt.

LT Hill had this shirt while assigned to the Wolfhounds before the war. He did a first tour or a TDY with the 1/101st Div., hence the combat patch and the CIB added to the shirt. The CIB replaces an EIB. The wear marks of the CIB and the 101st SSI are ligther than the ones for the other insignias.

Then he was assigned to the pathfinder platoon of the 25th Avn Batt for a second tour with the 25th Inf and used again his old shirt.

This shirt was part of a set of three identical ones offered by Lee Jackson Militaria.

Hi Andrei,

despite being the only Vietnam era collector in the world not to have an item from the 25th, that last shirt is just wonderful!

The locally made items are superb and the CMB with the yellow/gold highlights is sublime.

Thanks for posting the shirts.

Patrick.

Andrei, very nice uniforms! I was wondering when you were going to post the shirts you told me you have.

Items my father saved while he served with 27th Woldhounds in 1966 can be found here-

This is the only original 25th ID shirt I have. Others in my collection are recreations for display.

No date tag in this shirt, but I assume it's manufacture is 1966 b/c it has the dull green buttons as opposed to the shiny type. My guess is that this shirt is from 1967-1968, but may be as early as 1966. Williams is a name too generic to research!

I'd say early 1950's/Korean War- early 60's, worn at Schofield Barracks, HI.

Thanks for your comments mates !

I will post more next week when JJ the photographer will be back from holidays.

Frankie, I guess that the SSI on your jungle jacket is an US made twill subdued patch.

Andrei, a great set of uniforms. Thanks for posting.

I agree with you that Frankie's 25th patch is a US made subdued twill.

Andrei and Craig, you two are probably right about my patch. I had always felt it was Vietnamese made b/c of the twill.
