GeneralLucas Posted October 28, 2013 Share #1 Posted October 28, 2013 A woman who does estate sales here in Dallas obtained this helmet from the estate of former Lt. Berle Hufford and sold it along with a letter from the veteran's son. The chinstrap and liner are in very nice condition and the helmet was left untouched and stored correctly. Garandomatic Posted October 28, 2013 Share #6 Posted October 28, 2013 Man, doesn't get much cleaner than that. Stories like this are the origin of the odd multi-barrel hunters' "Schutzen" or whathave you rifles from the 1800s. Some GIs got pretty exotic souvenirs! HeadOfSteel Posted October 31, 2013 Share #11 Posted October 31, 2013 VERY nice M40!!! The maker looks to be EF (Emaillerwerke, Fulda, Germany) I am a collector of German helmets too, so it is nice to see a beauty like this one here.

maj1776 Posted December 14, 2013 Share #16 Posted December 14, 2013 My favorite thing to collect is German helmets. Very nice M40. Looks like it wasn't used very much. The marks left by the draw string is hardly noticeable. Your lucky to have one with great documentation. That makes it an artifact as opposed to being a war souvenir.
