SA1794 Posted October 27, 2013 Share #1 Posted October 27, 2013 I found a field desk dated 1941. However, it is painted black rather than OD green. Is there a reason why it is black vs green?
RustyCanteen Posted October 27, 2013 Share #2 Posted October 27, 2013 Has it been repainted? It sounds like it has.
Combat Diver Posted October 27, 2013 Share #3 Posted October 27, 2013 Can you post a picture. I'll like to compare it to the one from the 90s. CD
SA1794 Posted October 27, 2013 Author Share #4 Posted October 27, 2013 I can see some OD green by the lock and the leather handles. But the black paint is even and uniformed. I'll post pics soon. Thanks!
doyler Posted October 27, 2013 Share #5 Posted October 27, 2013 Could have been done by who ever used it post war.Seen these in surplus stores painted several different colors.Lots of civilian agencies got surplus things over the years. The local volunteer fire department had vehicles from the government stores. The weapons carriers they had were all converted to water tank trucks and painted yellow or red depending on the prefferance of the department or twonships.
