Here is the PBY-5A at the Fighter Factory in Virginia Beach, VA.

This aircraft was built in San Diego and then flew non stop to Norfolk, VA.

It then deployed overseas, were it flew patrol in Gibraltar, French Morocco, Canary Is, and the Azores.

Maybe someone in Virginia can help me on this one: I lived in Virginia Beach and Norfolk when I was a kid (two different occasions, nine years apart - and I swear I recall a PBY or two mounted on pylons at the main gate to NAS Norfolk.
