GeneralLucas Posted October 26, 2013 Share #1 Posted October 26, 2013 I have recently obtained this German bayonet which it appears is an Afrika Korps item because of the type of the dated web frog. The bayonet itself is dated 1938 with the maker of MUNDLOS. It appears that a piece of schrapnel went into the front of the frog and hits the matching sheath while nicking the bayonet blade and exits out the back of the frog. If the soldier was wearing the bayonet at the time, he probably was wounded. Some of the fibers of the web frog are still in the sheath.

gwb123 Posted October 31, 2013 Share #14 Posted October 31, 2013 The Spoils of War section is for items known to have been brought back by a GI. We generally would expect to see some of the background information posted along with the item.
gwb123 Posted November 1, 2013 Share #15 Posted November 1, 2013 Locking this thread as there is no direct attribution to a GI bringing this home as a souvenir.
