Sabrejet Posted October 23, 2013 Share #4 Posted October 23, 2013 It's derived from their national flag. The state was founded by the USA and initially populated by freed slaves.
B229 Posted October 23, 2013 Share #5 Posted October 23, 2013 The Liberian Frontier Force, which was the name of Liberia's armed forces until 1956. They were on the allied side during WWII and got training from US advisors, so I wouldn't be surprised if this SSI is actually US produced from the WWII period. Sabrejet Posted October 23, 2013 Share #6 Posted October 23, 2013 I agree. It's very similar in overall construction to a WW2 US made CBI patch.

ocsfollowme Posted March 26, 2019 Share #8 Posted March 26, 2019 Here is another version that I just picked up. Supposedly Liberian National Guard? Any confirmation with photo proof if the US was involved with these units? Sort of like the FLF patch that looks like it was based on the US 3rd Army patch?
