Singlebill Posted October 18, 2013 Share #1 Posted October 18, 2013 Hello all! I am new to this forum and love it. These are my first posts so thanks in advance for your patience. I have searched for quite a while for a box of .45 ACP ammo in half moon clips to complete a grouping to go with my uncle's 1917 Colt New Service revolver. What few that were out there for sale were well outside of my price range. Recently I purchased a beat up example that was missing an end flap, had a torn, crumbling label and lid, missing one clip (three rounds) but it was within my budget. I decided to make it a little more presentable. I first removed the ammo, and laid the box out flat to reattach the label Using acid free glue I reattached the label, reattached the lid with filmoplast P archival tape, and then reglued the box. While drying, the box was held in place with some binder clips and drawer mending hardware I had on hand. The finished product still looks "battle worn" but is a bit more recognizeable! Steve1987 Posted October 18, 2013 Share #3 Posted October 18, 2013 That is nicely done! Sometimes these old boxes need repairs. I have repaired a few also, if absolutely needed. -Steve
