jdb Posted October 14, 2013 Share #1 Posted October 14, 2013 Found this at an antique show today. I am thinking it is a theater made knife from ww1. Any information would be greatly appreciated. What would the approximate value of this type of knife be. Thanks, Jack
militariaone Posted October 14, 2013 Share #2 Posted October 14, 2013 Greetings Jack, It looks like this knife. http://www.usmilitaryknives.com/mystery_knife_12.htm Page explains everything but value. I’ve always heard them referred (as stated in the link) to as the OSS Drop Knife. Regards, Lance
jdb Posted October 14, 2013 Author Share #3 Posted October 14, 2013 Lance, Thanks for the information. I only paid $15 and the knife had a very interesting look to it. Jack
gunbarrel Posted October 14, 2013 Share #4 Posted October 14, 2013 There are three "OSS Knuckle Knives" on Bill Stone's website ( http://ewstoneknife.com/ ). The one on the home page was made using the blade from an 1873 US Springfield Bayonet. I think he's taking offers on that one. The two on the For Sale page were made with long Patton blades. He has those marked at $400 ea. HTH.
doyler Posted October 14, 2013 Share #5 Posted October 14, 2013 Blades were made from the bayonets that were for the trapdoor sprinfield rifle(s)
