1canpara Posted October 9, 2013 Share #1 Posted October 9, 2013 I really have no idea how these would have looked when all together, but a very dear friend who is a navy veteran from WWII gave me these. He was in Halifax, Nova Scotia as a junior officer when the U-190 came into the harbor and surrendered at the end of the hostilities in 1945. As an engineer and fire control officer, he was tasked to go aboard and look at their equipment and seize what needed to be taken to secure the sub. He took the fire control / plotting table apart and made it his own as a souvenir. He's 90 now and has had this bunch of steel cogs and wheels sitting around for 68 years, and knowing my interest in WWII, gave them to me last weekend for my birthday. Pretty cool to have some parts of an actual U-Boat in my war room. I plan to put them in a shadow Bob with a photo of the U-190 and a wartime photo of my friend.
