Texas36th Posted February 7, 2015 Share #26 Posted February 7, 2015 I know we all love the pistols but that lonely bag needs mentioning to. Its not a 1945 lower that was made long after the war but a 1944 lower that are hard time find. Your looks almost new. I am glad you were able to talk to your uncle about his experiences. Dogface72 Posted February 7, 2015 Author Share #27 Posted February 7, 2015 Texas36th- I'm not 100% sure, but I think it's stenciled 1945. It's not easily accessible, I built a box for the bag (the guns inside). The box resembles an old ammo crate, but can not be opened unless you break it open or know a particular sequence of procedures. Even if you remove the lock, the box can't be opened...kind of like a puzzle. I know collectors say not to store them this way, but they have been stored (lite oil) and in there holsters since the war. .

Texas36th Posted February 8, 2015 Share #29 Posted February 8, 2015 Mine is also dated 1945 but this is a 1944 lower pack. The straps on yours with small rectangle buckle was used to attach it to the upper. This was changed on the 1945 version. They were only made for a short time. Most of these that you find have the straps cut off.
