Here’s a set I just picked up: The maker is Penguin of Japan. Ichi-Ban! Nice "His/Hers" set! Well done C6A!

Cobra 6 Actual Posted November 14, 2023 #1011 Posted November 14, 2023 Earlier someone on this thread wrote “Small pockets, small lighters.” Here’s a wee USMC lighter next to a regular size Zippo:
yokota57 Posted November 15, 2023 #1012 Posted November 15, 2023 US Army / 77th US Army Security Agency Special Operations Unit (COMINT/ELINT). Offenbach Kaserne, W. Germany 1961-1964. (*usarmygermany.com indicates that these lighters were presented by the CO in '63-'64). Japanese-made "Vulcan".
Cobra 6 Actual Posted November 16, 2023 #1013 Posted November 16, 2023 Another excellent lighter, yokota57! Great score!

danimal03 Posted November 26, 2023 #1018 Posted November 26, 2023 It is a slow Sunday afternoon for me so I thought I would share lighter. I've spent years in Iraq and Afghanistan as a contractor. Only one unit I ever worked with gave out engraved lighters when leaving. I was given this when I left the unit in Feb 2017. I checked the date code on the Zippo. It was made Jan 2016. I find it interesting that just over a year later it found its way to me. It was engraved on the base in Afghanistan. I have never used it and it remains in my display case. cheers!
Cobra 6 Actual Posted November 26, 2023 #1019 Posted November 26, 2023 Very cool, Dan. Surprisingly, there are not that many Iraq or Afghanistan lighters out there “in the wild”. Given both the length of time that we had people fighting in those countries and the thousands of personnel that completed tours of duty, I would have expected the number of lighters to be much higher. I guess, though, that a countervailing reason is that smoking has diminished greatly in the military. Hey, thanks for posting!

Salvage Sailor Posted December 11, 2023 #1023 Posted December 11, 2023 3RD U.S. INFANTRY REGIMENT (THE OLD GUARD) Before 2001, the 2d Battalion had been active July 1957-July 1963 (as 2nd Battle Group) and June 1966-October 1970. Those time frames saw the battalion deployed to South Korea and Vietnam, respectively.
