jmd62 Posted July 17, 2021 #28 Posted July 17, 2021 Awesome lighters! What time period is the "Windy" Zippo?
Cobra 6 Actual Posted July 17, 2021 #29 Posted July 17, 2021 Hi jmd62. That’s a 2006 Zippo. These still turn up occasionally on eBay. There’s a blue camo one on eBay right now: https://www.ebay.com/itm/ZIPPO-NEW-WINDY-CAMOUFLAGE-ANTIQUE-FINISH-SUPER-COOL-02085-/183800700928 Frankly, I prefer the green camo version. One more lighter:
General Apathy Posted July 25, 2021 #31 Posted July 25, 2021 . WWII lighter made in Paris 1945 . . . . . . a nice silver plate cigarette lighter made by Drago in Paris 1945, this 82nd PIR one is the only one I have seen, I am not certain if it was a commissioned piece by an 82nd serviceman or if more and other units were made. . . regards lewis. ....

Here’s a more modern one, made in a ville in Vietnam in 1968:The cigar cutter is covering the owner’s SSN.
Boy Howdy Posted July 26, 2021 #33 Posted July 26, 2021 Here is a lighter I posted in Newest Acquisitions. 1960 date code. Very little on line information about this "commission"
Cobra 6 Actual Posted August 13, 2021 #35 Posted August 13, 2021 This was given to an Army nurse by South Vietnamese President Thieu:
I Hate Moths Posted August 14, 2021 #37 Posted August 14, 2021 Here is my Dad's Park lighter from WWII.

Cobra 6 Actual Posted August 14, 2021 #39 Posted August 14, 2021 Military Sea Transportation Service lighters are somewhat rare:
Coldfusion Posted August 15, 2021 #40 Posted August 15, 2021 I only have 2 military lighters... A Zippo and a Storm King. The Zippo was gifted to my regiment (The Queen's Royal Irish Hussars) back in 1991. The USMC Storm King lighter I purchased from the US a few months ago, to go with my growing Vietnam collection.
Cobra 6 Actual Posted August 15, 2021 #41 Posted August 15, 2021 Thanks, Coldfusion, for posting those. When you mentioned that your unit was gifted that Zippo it reminded me that I had a lighter that was gifted to St. Louis, Missouri, troops after World War I:
Boy Howdy Posted August 15, 2021 #42 Posted August 15, 2021 Nothing special here but a nice solid 1967 Zippo.

Amazing lighter Ken!!
Cobra 6 Actual Posted August 15, 2021 #46 Posted August 15, 2021 Nothing wrong with a “plain Jane” Zippo, Boy Howdy … it still did everything the engraved lighters did. And, that’s a great collection, USARV72! Manayunkman, your comment to General Apathy reminded me that I have Drago lighter, too. This was a collaboration between Drago and Dupont: The dragon is intertwined around the map of Vietnam.
jmd62 Posted August 15, 2021 #47 Posted August 15, 2021 Men, those are some amazing lighters!! It's fun to look at them, thanks for posting your examples : )
Cobra 6 Actual Posted August 15, 2021 #48 Posted August 15, 2021 Better pic of that Drago and Dupont lighter:
Cobra 6 Actual Posted August 17, 2021 #49 Posted August 17, 2021 Any one else have military lighters to post?
