agate hunter Posted October 6, 2013 Share #1 Posted October 6, 2013 Hey everyone, just picked up this Viet Cong hunting club patch, I'm wondering if this one is original wartime made. Thanks for any info. Its sewn on a piece of material that was cut from a trashed jacket, so I was told.

doyler Posted October 6, 2013 Share #4 Posted October 6, 2013 Have seen this style before but this one seems off.The features in the face as well as the word CLUB being off set isnt something I mormally see in the real ones.

That's what I thought as well, some others I've seen the jaw looks to be more square other than rounded, but the material and stitching does look similar, maybe different makers? doyler Posted October 6, 2013 Share #8 Posted October 6, 2013 THe brown on the back reminds me of the ones they soak in tea to age.Plus the way the letters are linked together with the red stitch are not what I like to see.

Patchcollector Posted October 6, 2013 Share #11 Posted October 6, 2013 I concur. That patch is authentic. We have to remember that the theatre made pieces were hand made by individuals and the quality ranged from exquisite to downright ugly. Something else to note;this is a "novelty" piece, not a unit insignia,so I'm guessing the makers churned these out even faster than the regular unit patches. Also, the "brown" on the back may be the remnants of the tailors' paper backing.
