hhbooker2 Posted April 21, 2008 Share #1 Posted April 21, 2008 1940, maybe earlier, Officer's Stewards wore special rates on what was a jacket in grey, khaki, navy blue, and white with their own buttons with a special mark of a crescent with one to four bars below to designate the grade of the wearer. Below is a grey cloth with silver bullion embroidered crescent and 4 bars, Chief Steward? Here is another Chief Steward (?) in khaki with blue embroidered crescent and 4 bars. hhbooker2 Posted April 22, 2008 Author Share #2 Posted April 22, 2008 Chief Officer's Steward, blue crescent and 4 bars on white. Officer's Steward 1st Class, blue wool with white crescent and 3 bars. Officer's Steward with silver embroidered crescent and two bars, must wonder if having these done in silver bullion was authorized?
dpcsdan Posted April 22, 2008 Share #3 Posted April 22, 2008 Chief Officer's Steward, blue crescent and 4 bars on white. Officer's Steward 1st Class, blue wool with white crescent and 3 bars. Officer's Steward with silver embroidered crescent and two bars, must wonder if having these done in silver bullion was authorized? The CPO grade of these are tough to find. Officer's Stewards also wore the CPO/Officer style headgear with a plain U.S.N. cap device. I don't believe bullion was authorized, but I do have examples like you've displayed above. -dan
