Steve B. Posted September 25, 2013 Share #4 Posted September 25, 2013 According to Stanton's WWI Order of Battle, the 29th served in Europe in WWII, but was not part of a division. Beyond that, I'm not sure of their history. You could probably google 29th infantry regiment and find plenty of info. That DUI looks to me like it could be a post-war German-made painted DUI. B229 Posted September 26, 2013 Share #5 Posted September 26, 2013 Thanks for the reply! Is it possible to connect this infantry regiment to an infantry division? The 29th Infantry has been independant for almost it's entire existence. It was briefly assigned to the 17th Division in 1918, but that division never went overseas. The 29th was also apparently attached to both the 24th and 25th Divisions during the opening months of the Korean War. Other than that, it's never been assigned to a division. Steve B. Posted September 29, 2013 Share #6 Posted September 29, 2013 Stanton's book says it was part of the 4th Infantry Division at Fort Benning, GA until 1939. Not sure when they were first assigned to the 4th ID.
