Justin B. Posted September 20, 2013 #1 Posted September 20, 2013 I thought I'd post this document I found in my research "travels, " which may be of interest to some here. It's the specifications for the short-lived 1936 Army officer's dress blues, with pocket-less coat and shoulder boards/knots, replaced the next year by the four-pocket coat with shoulder straps. Jamecharles posted a great example here. By the way this order was the origin of the warrant officers' BoS color, brown.
AAF_Collection Posted September 21, 2013 #7 Posted September 21, 2013 Very interesting Justin, Thanks for posting these. Matt.
Jamecharles Posted September 26, 2013 #8 Posted September 26, 2013 Great !i have them already i'm just curious if you are able to get also the 1938 circular for BD i was not able to get them, i've all circular only until 1937.In truth, the 1937 are the last circulars that made the significant changes on BD after 1937 only few modify were applied to the BD until the end of the war, but if you are able to get a copy of the Others will be really great. CiaoGiancarlo PS: all warrent officers didn't have the gold bride on the sleeves and no ranks in the shoulder pad for 1936 version and same for 1937 version.
Justin B. Posted September 26, 2013 Author #9 Posted September 26, 2013 Great ! i have them already Yeah, I figured you'd have them already, but they were new to me! i'm just curious if you are able to get also the 1938 circular for BD i was not able to get them, i've all circular only until 1937. No originals but I have a book called The Horse Soldier 1776-1943, volume 4, by Randy Staffen that reproduces an order of Aug. 17, 1938, "Dress Uniforms for Officers and Warrant Officers." Would that be of interest to you? Justin B.

Justin B. Posted September 28, 2013 Author #12 Posted September 28, 2013 I have never seen anything official on the 1930's enlisted blues, that's great! It always amazes me, the effort and expense put into those dress uniforms during the Great Depression, with military pay cuts, unpaid furloughs and such going on. Thanks a lot for the post! Justin B.
BEAST Posted October 11, 2013 #13 Posted October 11, 2013 Very interesting post! Jamecharles, did you post the 1937 circular?
