Camp Russell 1st & 2nd Division USMC Memorial - New Zealand

Here are a few photos of the USMC memorial on the site of Camp Russell, near Paekakariki, New Zealand.

 

Also present is a memorial to the US Navy personnel lost when their LCVP capsized while under tow during a beach landing practice. The panel is part of the actual LCVP, very appropriate.

The Memorial. These are the ends from the some of the actual huts that housed the USMC. Very neat.

The US Navy memorial at the rear of the huts, it's there because it's closer to the sea. The hills in the background are the start of the Tararua Ranges where the USMC spent a lot of time training.
